Everyone has heard of all the things you can and can’t put down your garburator. For every person you ask you will find each has a different list. I can’t say for sure, but I do know this: Step 1, don’t ever let your daughter clean an aquarium full of sand in the kitchen sink if you have a garburator. This won’t block your drain, but it will cost about $500 to replace the damn thing. Step 2, make sure doesn’t do it…TWICE!!
I believe you can put pretty much anything you want down your garburator simply because I’ve done just that and never had a problem. Having said that, I must admit we regularly unblock kitchen sinks with garburators. I think it has less to do with what you’ve put in them and more to do with how you empty them.
- Run the hottest water you can for 15 to 30 seconds before you turn it on.
- Keep running the hot water as long as your garburator is on.
- After you’ve stopped the garburator, let the hot water run another 15 to 30 seconds.
If you do this, I doubt very much you will ever have a problem with drain.
I recommend to everyone, whether they have a garburator or not, this simple fix to maintain the kitchen sink drain:
Once a week pour approximately 8oz of soap (VERY SLOWLY!) down the drain. Run hot water while you do this. Over a two month period this should remove any grease build-up. This works best with Dawn, Palmolive, or Sunlight liquid dish soap.
If you don’t have luck with this, or if you’re drains are too far gone already, contact Cassidy & Cassidy: 514-869-7779.
Mike and his daughter started these blogs as a way to start connecting with their customers. With all his years of experience, Mike has a wealth of information many people would find useful. So with this in mind, we created our first, educational Cassidy & Cassidy blog posts.
Still wanting to bring the customer service issues of today to light though, Cassidy Quips was then created. These quips are intended to help people realize that they deserve better when it comes to customer service, and offer them some tips and tricks to perhaps start feeling as though they're not constantly getting screwed with their pants on.
These quips may be rants, they may be fun, and with any luck, they may leave you coming back for more!
